Blue Shell was established to provide home care cleaning and laundry services for the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority's Residential Tenancy program, with the goal of maintaining the tenancy of clients with mental health diagnoses. We have a mandate to employ members of the Downtown Eastside community, providing living wages and regular increases, full benefits, and an understanding, accomodating work environment. We service ~150 clients through the VCHA, and have expanded to service local businesses, shelters, and residents. We use commercial grade, biodegradable detergents, biodegradable cleaning supplies and disinfectants, and have a full recycling program. We make every effort to reduce our energy consumption as well (where it won't compromise sanitation specifications), and provide the same high level of service and commitment to all of our clients.
